Banking without Charges?

Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! - An announcement from a IDBI Bank has taken me by surprise.

IDBI Bank has decided that henceforth it’s savings account & current account holders will not incur any charges other than Cheque Return Charges. This is surprising given that the bank used to charge for online NEFT fund transfers also even for it’s premier customers.

The aim of this move is to improve the share of CASA deposits from around 15% to at least the industry average of 30% or more. IDBI Bank seems to have the least ratio of CASA deposits among banks.

So now will this move … Continue Reading

THE CHURCH is the world’s best marketer - with phenomenal results over the centuries. Ability to convert millions & millions of people across the world into Christianity is unmatched by any corporate either in … Continue Reading

Why USA is in Afganistan?

Now we know why USA is so actively involved in Afganistan and probably also why Pakistan wants India out…

Mineral Resources… In fact Abundant untapped mineral resources….

USA has a policy of using up other country’s resources and also an habit of ensuring that nobody else gets access to the resources… take the instance of Iraq - abundant oil is a primary reason for USA to still hold the country in it’s powers when it should have long back given by the administration and control to locals if it’s real aim was ousting Sadam Hussain

Now in Afganistan with infighting mineral resources were … Continue Reading

USA: Protector. Of whom: World or Americans?

US president has been very vocal in lambasting BP over the oil-spill in Gulf of Mexico for the loss of income and the ecological damage caused. US president is doing well in protecting American interests.

Even in the case of Bhopal Gas tragedy it is protecting American Nationals & Corporations.  Just imagine if such an incident had happened in US due to a foreign company’s mistake. By now the company would have been banned, it’s American assets seized and all effort would have been taken to get any promoter or top executive to US for trial.

Even in the case of Toyota’s … Continue Reading

Quota on Religious Basis

It is surprising that in India all poor are only from the so-called minority religions only.

This is what can be interpreted from Supreme Court ruling allowing quota for poor among Muslims in Andhra Pradesh. Andhra Government has categoried almost all sects, sub-sects, groups of Muslim as backward/poor and given them quota in education & job.

Supreme Court has allowed the quota. It means that it has allowed the quota on the basis of income. So this means Hindus are rich and none of them are poor and deprived.

This is the most stupid decision ever from Supreme Court which of late has … Continue Reading

M F Husain & Disgraceful Indian Media

Indian Media has shown it yet again. It can fall to new lows again and again just for TRPs. Media has yet again proved that it does not show what people want, people must see what it shows. Anti-Hindu bias of the media in India is again on the forefront.

One person who shows scant regards for the Hindu religion and sentiments is praised, Hindu organisations who protest against improper representation of Hindu ideology/gods are said to be anti-secular, without any tolerance, against freedom of speech. Media has exclusive coverages, interviews with “eminent” people and the “affected party(ies)” that are run, … Continue Reading

SEBI’s acquital of NSDL

SEBI’s acquital of NSDL in the IPO scam is another proof of influence of the SEBI Chairman on the proceedings. NSDL as a depository should have put in place a system to identify multiple accounts and doubtful accounts. More than any other entity NSDL could have done the job easily.

One more biggie in the security market goes off without punishment…

Bingo SRK!!!

Shah Rukh Khan has found a very novel method to gain publicity for this latest movie. Spat with Shiv Sena is ensuring his latest movie “My Name is Khan” gains publicity and is in news.  As usual media is into this hype. NDTV & CNN-IBN having different partnerships with SRK/Karan Johar are hyping the issue to it’s height.
Ironically if SRK was so sympathatic towards Pak players his team should have gone out of the way to buy them in the auction. Probably then business sense prevailed, now compassion has taken over.

I believe SRK has found a good way to get … Continue Reading

New Rule for Mumbai Taxi Drivers - Media Overboard

Yesterday Maharashtra Govt. announced new rules for issue of new permits for Taxi Drivers in Mumbai. It stipulated that only persons domicile in the state (i.e., living in the state for 15 years or more) and who can speak, read & write Marathi will be given permits.

The reaction - Media was all over it - the whole evening & night was spent by the media in explaining why this was a wrong move.

My first question - is media the decider on what is right and what is wrong? Or should media only act as a facilitator for spread the news … Continue Reading
